Chongqing people ranked third in China for travelling Europe in 2018

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, China Tourism Academy and Huacheng International Travel Group, a subsidiary of Ctrip, has jointly released the "2018 Big Data Report on China-Europe Tourism", which comprehensively analyses the 2018 European tourism in market scale, growth trend, and departure place and popular destination. The number of Chongqing people places the third in China for travelling to Europ.

Emerging European destinations go viral dramatically

The data shows the number of people booking tours to Europe in 2018 enhances with 27% year-on-year growth, and the Europe becomes the second largest destination chosen by Chinese tourists, accounting for 11%, second only to Asia. Among which, Russia, Italy, Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Portugal are listed in the most popular European countries in 2018.

The European countries with the most incremental Chinese tourists in 2018 include Serbia, Belgium, Spain and Russia. The five Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) are attracting more and more attention from Chinese tourists, of which tourists to Danish grow by 120% and to Finland by 77%.

Chongqing people ranked the third, increasing by over 100%

The people travelling to Europe in 2018 mainly is from Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Xi'an, Nanjing, Wuhan, Jinan, Harbin, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou and Changsha.

First-tier cities still dominate the market of European tours, but compared with the same period last year, Chongqing and Chengdu go up to the third and fourth, followed by Guangzhou and Shenzhen. These emerging first-tier cities like Chongqing, Kunming, Jinan, Nanning, Taiyuan, Guiyang, Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Fuzhou, and Xi'an rise in fastest growth rate, over 100%.

In addition, the data reveals that for the most popular European attractions for Chinese tourists, they’d prefer to the scenic spot about arts and humanities. Meanwhile, new forms of travelling have appeared. The most popular one is to follow a local guide who is familiar with the local area and can speak Chinese.
