CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In addition to Liziba Station of Line 2 and Liziba Viewing Platform, there is another place “closely contacting” with the rail. Recently, the reporter learnt from Yuzhong District that the 3,500-meter Fotuguan Park Footpath connecting Guanyue Temple and Fotuguan Station was basically built up. It is next to the Fotuguan to Daping section of Line 2, connecting old attractions of Chongqing, such as the stone relief “Night Rain in Bashan Mountain” and Guanyue Temple.

Surrounded by flowers, “close contact” with rail

The reporter entered the Fotuguan Park Footpath from the Guanyue Temple at the end of Jiahua Bridge. The flagstone footpath of more than 2 meters wide extends up along the mountain ridge. The guardrail is carved with patterns like fragrant thoroughwort and chrysanthemum. On the slope beside the footpath, the newly planted magnolia, wintersweet and begonia are in bloom.

Fotuguan Park Footpath is about 3,500 meters long in total and the slow walking system connecting Fotuguan Station and Guanyue Temple. Except for some finishing works like guardrail, the construction of footpath is basically completed.

The footpath is parallel with Line 2 in most sections and crosses the light rail below around the Fotuguan tunnel portal. With blooming wintersweets on both sides of the rail now, it becomes another place for citizens and tourists to have close contact with rail.

400m2 relief reproducing Night Rain in Bashan Mountain

Fotuguan Park is the former location of “Fotu Evening Rain” – one of the old 12 attractions of Chongqing. Fotuguan means a lot of memories and stories for Chongqing people. Therefore, there are multiple viewing platforms themed on “Night Rain in Bashan Mountain” along the footpath, letting passengers on the footpath not only feel the beauty, but also know about Chongqing culture.

The stone relief “Night Rain in Bashan Mountain” is created based on famous poet Li Shangyin’s seven-character quatrain A Note on a Rainy Night to a Friend in the North. The relief is about 400m2, carved on an original rock. Below the relief, there is a 600m2 viewing platform where you can see Jiangbei Hong’en Temple in front and the high-traffic Jiahua Bridge is below.

In the academic world, there are many places considered as the Ba Hill in Li Shangyin’s “Night rain fill’d the autumn pool from Ba Hill”, one of which is Fotuguan in Yuzhong District.

Fotuguan in Yuzhong District has high and dangerous terrain, surrounded by water on two sides and by cliffs on three sides, so it has always been of vital importance in military strategists’ view. In Fotuguan, Yeyu Temple (Night Rain Temple) was built in the Ming Dynasty, which was completely disappeared by the end of 2009. (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
