BEIJING, April 1 -- Chinese railway police have launched a special security campaign ahead of Tomb-sweeping Day, which falls on Friday this year.

The police have increased patrols at railway stations and strengthened security checks by working closely with other authorities, said a statement provided to Xinhua Monday.

In addition to operations against theft, fraud and robbery, efforts were also made to enhance patrols along railway lines to protect key facilities and watch for fires risks.

Tomb-sweeping Day (Qingming Festival) is a traditional Chinese holiday when people pay tribute to the deceased by burning joss sticks and paper.
