CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Water and fire show no sympathy to men， and scenes of the forest fire braking out in the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan still impressed people. Thirty people fought against the fire with their life to protect the safety of people’s life and property. There is also a firefighting & rescue team consisting of 41 people in Chongqing. As the only municipal forest and grassland fire-prevention and firefighting team, they protect and fight on various forests in Chongqing. They are soldiers undergoing tough tests and guards of forest security.

The Firefighting & Rescue Team of Chongqing Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Team (hereinafter referred to as the Firefighting & Rescue Team) was established in 2009. There is not only beautiful scenery but also terrible fires in green forests. When danger comes, team members are always the bravest people.

This team consists of 41 people with an average age of 28 years old. The eldest is 40 years old and the youngest is 21 years old.

The team adopts military management and strictly carries out a 24-hour emergency guard. It is necessary for them to take daily practice and practical drills. They always station at the foot of Jinyun Mountain in Beibei District.

As an old saying goes: a handy tool makes a handy man. A chain saw is a crucial tool in fire prevention, as important as a soldier’s gun on the battlefield. Firearms disassembly is a must-grasp skill for military men. The dismantlement of a chain saw is also an important part among firefighter skills assessment which demands 2 minutes at most, while the fastest is only 40 seconds.

They start 2km run at 7:30 in the morning. Afterwards, they lay fire hoses, use chain saws, practice military gesture and other training. No matter how tough the weather is, they keep on training to challenge themselves and make good preparation for actual firefighting.

In addition to regular technological means, they also learn advanced experience for forest fire prevention and firefighting. Modern means like the application of macromolecule gel fire retardant, carrying soldiers by air and scouting the fire by UAV, are applied to fight against forest fire.

When talking about Jinyun Mountain, many people may think of a great vacation. However, the team is busy every July to September, the period with high fire danger. They have to patrol the mountain and surrounding key forest areas with equipment. Firefighters with equipment can practice their skills and effectively protect the forest fire security of key areas.

The number of team members will be increased from 41 to 80 to form a backbone force of ground emergency rescue. Some competent persons will be selected to form a forest aviation fire special team who will stand by at airports for 24 hours to do special tasks like carrying soldiers and goods, doing investigation and doing air rescue.
