2019-04-17 10:07:49

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There is always an old street in everyone’s memory, and each street tells its own story.

The old street is simple with old shops, mottled slate, full of strong and unique flavor of life.

Siping town, Jiangjin District is flat with an altitude of 800 - 1200 meters, surrounded by four mountains as barriers such as Bijia Mountain, Shenzhen Phoenix Mountain and so on. With a high forest coverage rate, it is an ideal place as tourism resort. After the opening of Jiangjin-Xishui High-speed Railway, it will be just an hour and a half's drive from the urban area to Siping Town.

The street with a length of more than 300 meters, is all paved by green slates. Thousands of houses on both sides of the street, are all-wood frame structure, so far well preserved. Along both sides of the street, there are piles of firewood, stone and other farm tools. When you enter the Siping Old Street in Simian Mountain Tourist Resort, you can feel strong but rustic peasant flavor blowing on your face. The street was built in the late Qing dynasty and the early Republic of China, with a 130 year’s history. The construction of ancient streets is also mainly from the perspective of farmers, focusing on the practicality with considerations of its location, residences and trades here.

In the past years, the ancient street is well preserved with a strong flavor of life because of its remote location and poor transportation. You can tell its difference from original shops and neighborhoods around the old street.

Walking here, you can meet laid-back people, gathering in small groups, chatting at leisure. Leisure time, scattered courtyard and old buildings tell their own stories, attracting people to come and go.

Summer is the best time for you to visit Siping Old Street. You can carefully stroll along the street, while bathing in cool breeze at night and being free from the noisy city. Bricks, tiles, galleries and columns here, are telling the story of the old street.

Best of all, if you stay and live here for a few nights, you will feel different every day.

In the early morning, the ancient street is enveloped by the smoke rising from the kitchen column.

At dusk, villagers that returns from farmland work, still can play chess at leisure, take a walk, and chat. What a good idyllic scenery!

At night, dim lanterns may light up your homesickness and accompany you to sleep. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
