CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Sponsored by Chongqing Art Museum and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (shorted for SFAI), “the 26th Student Works Exhibition of Oil Painting Department, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute – Punctum” is to be held at Chongqing Art Museum located at Jiefangbei from April 17 to 28, showing nearly 200 pieces of works which delivery students’ creative achievements in the past year and express their talent and vitality in creations.

"It’s a good thing that students’ sensitivity and talent in creation have been showed in this exhibition, but the problems exposed here may be more worthy of reflection and discussion. Based on the tepid attitude and puzzled problems occurred in creating works among young students, the theme of exhibition is adopted the ‘Punctum!?’.” Wang Pengjie, a teacher from Oil Painting Department, SFAI, said that the word "punctum" used by Roland Barthes in photography to show that the unique detail can arouse other’s feelings and is full of contingency, meanwhile it has the power of touching and activating people's feelings. However, the meaning of the word here is understood broader than that. It can be regarded as the proof of artists' self-renewal ability, the creative attitude of pursuing impact and vitality, the sharp weapon of breaking the empiricism and dogmatism, as well as the ideological ability of self-denial and criticism. So, he hopes students can do bravely because the value of art lies the self-renewal ability.
