DOHA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The first tea packaging plant of Lipton and Red Label brands in Qatar's New Industrial Area opened on Sunday, further boosting the Gulf state's industrial sector.

Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company's (QIMC) plant in Doha forms part of the efforts of the ministerial group, headed by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, to stimulate and support the country's economy.

Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari and QIMC Chairman of the Board of Directors Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Jabor Al Thani attended the inauguration ceremony.

"The opening of the plant is one of the fruits of Qatar's ongoing efforts to achieve partnership with the private sector and support them by all means," Kuwari said in a press statement.

According to QIMC, Lipton and Red Label brands, which are part of Unilever Worldwide, represent more than two-thirds of sales in the domestic market.
