CHANGCHUN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- A vulture, under state protection in China, has been released into the wild after nearly two months of treatment in northeast China's border city of Hunchun, local authorities said Monday.

A resident in Hunchun, Jilin Province, found the vulture severely injured on March 10. The resident called staff with the city's forestry bureau, who rushed to the scene to give medical treatment and then sent the bird to a local animal rescue station for further treatment.

After nearly two months of recuperation in the station, the vulture was fully restored to health and recovered its abilities to hunt and forage in the wild, according to Zhao Wenge, director of the Hunchun animal and plant protection and rescue association.

Located at the junction of China, Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Hunchun is dotted with wetlands and swamps totaling over 8,000 hectares and is home to many rare or endangered birds.
