CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 2019 Chongqing Thousand Pots of Azalea Bonsai Exhibition & the Awarding Ceremony of the Home of Nanshan Azalea Bonsai in China was held at Nanshan Central Wetland Park, showing the live performance about bonsai production by national bonsai artists from the Flower Bonsai & Stone Appreciation Branch, Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, apart from the existing bonsai.

It is the largest scale of the summer azalea bonsai exhibition in China so far, containing more than 1,000 pots of azalea bonsai produced by the local flowers in Nanshan as well as works wining the praises in former bonsai exhibitions. Moreover, it is free for you from May 12 to 19.

Nanshan bonsai puts the landscape and arts into a pot, fully showing the unique landscape features of Chongqing, which can be regarded as the best presentation of industrial ecology and ecological industrialization. Azalea bonsai is its most famous one. Nan'an Committee and People’s Government pay great attention and greatly support the development of Nanshan bonsai industry, and now there has been more than 10,000mu of flower and bonsai industry in the district.

Noticeably, the special technique for Nanshan bonsai was successfully declared as Chongqing intangible cultural heritage in 2011, for which there are 2 city-level inheritors and 33 district-level inheritors. The azalea bonsai selected by the bonsai enthusiasts living in Shuanglong Village, Nanshan has won many gold and silver prizes in the national exhibitions. The planting area of flowers and trees bonsai in Shuanglong Village has reached more than 2,000mu, of which azalea accounts for more than 1,500mu.
