Class Uniform Show at the Sichuan International Studies University

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 6th Class Uniform Design Competition has been held at the Sichuan International Studies University (SISU for short), proving different visual effects due to the various ideas from college students here.

Class uniform painted with words students like

A total of 12 teams got the final qualification after over 2-months fierce competition. They showed class uniform designed by themselves and played an 8-minute program on the evening of May 15. Among which, the students from Class 2, Grade 2017, Department of Chinese Language & Literature designed with landscapes, animals and poetic proses and got the first prize due to their creativity.

"At first, we only wanted to make a simple T-shirt, but many classmates thought that class uniform should not only be used in large-scale activities, but also become an element or a part of our daily life." Wang Xiaoqian, the head of Class 2, told that they finally decided to make a coat.

Wang Xiaoqian said that selecting the poems painted on the class uniform not only reflects their personal aesthetic preference, but also contains the class culture of pursuing individuality in commonness.

Voluntarily take extra time to design

Cheng Shiqi, a student from Class 1 (Vietnamese), said that the class uniform they designed combined the traditional Vietnamese costume "Ao Dai" with the school uniforms of the Republic of China. Bright red is the color of girl's skirt, representing the enthusiasm and vitality of college students. There is a "dragon" embroidered on boy' upper outer garment and a "phoenix" on girls'. All of these creative ideas are from themselves.

Cheng introduced that the manuscript was completed around the beginning of April, which is the crystallization of the whole classmates. Having a class about Sino-Vietnamese relations, students learned that the Vietnamese people believe they are "the children of dragon" in their traditional concept, which is partly similar to Chinese culture. However, my classmates wouldn’t like to use "dragon" element only, and finally decided to put "dragon" pattern on boy's garment and "phoenix" pattern on girl’s because the "dragon and phoenix" are regarded as a symbol of good luck in China.

After finishing the design, they searched online for clothes similar to the design manuscript. "It took us a long time, because most clothes on the Internet are very different and difficult to change." Cheng said that after finding a more satisfactory sample, they found a shop to print the "dragon and phoenix" patterns on clothes, and then hired a tailor to make the slit and length they wanted.

"Everyone makes contributions to the competition, including time and efforts. What a united and friendly class!” Cheng said that the university sets up only a class for Vietnamese, enrolling 24 in total including 5 boys and 19 girls. Everyone spent their time actively participating in the event. (Translated by Jiang Yuling, Fathom Language Limited)
