Laoying Mountain rated as a national 4A Scenic Spot

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Laoying Mountain Scenic Spot in Qijiang has reached the standard of being rated as national 4A scenic spot and been awarded the 4A scenic spot qualification by the City Scenic Spot Quality Rating Committee.

The planning area of the Laoying Mountain Scenic Spot is about 0. 96 square kilometers. There are the largest footprints of ancient birds in the world, as well as the most perfectly preserved precious relics of duck-billed dragon and multi-winged dragon in China in the Lianhuabao Village, Laoying Mountain. It is the first national 4A scenic spot in Chongqing with the theme of paleontology fossils.

At present, 656 footprints of vertebrate paleontology have been found in the scenic spot. The dense distribution, complete type, perfect preservation and rich biological diversity of the footprint are rare to be seen both at home and abroad. It is of high scientific research value and popular science value with peculiarity and uniqueness worldwide.

Combined with popular science and tourism elements, the scenic spot has built a winding sightseeing trail of more than 10 kilometers and a large number of leisure viewing facilities, as well as a variety of popular science interactive and entertainment experience projects.
