CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There are two buildings attracting many attentions in terms of unique shape at the intersection of Liziba Centre Street and Jialing New Road, on the opposite of Liziba Anti-Japanese War Site Park. They are being renovated. Let’s go to the scene to have a look at Sancengmalu Old Block, one of the characteristic old blocks in Yuzhong District.

Rich family used to live in these old buildings

The two buildings under renovation are less than 200 meters away from the viewing platform at Liziba Light Rail Station. They look like idle warehouses except the difference in outer wall compared with surrounding buildings.

Juelu Building Groups were high-grade ones in the area of Liziba during the Republic of China, inhabited by rich families at that time. However, the specific information needs further research.

Trails at Sancengmalu are being upgraded

Juelu Building Groups can be regarded as the first stop to visit the Sancengmalu adjoining to Liziba Traditional Style Area and Liziba Light Rail Viewing Platform. Sancengmalu has become the popular attraction around Liziba, generally referring to the area from Liziba Intersection to Eling TESTBED 2.

In fact, the "Sancengmalu" is a winding mountain road, along which you can arrive at Lianglukou or the Eling Par from Liziba. There are many landscape trails along the route, so Sancengmalu is suitable for walking and sightseeing.

Near Fotuguan Station, a cafe shop under the light rail has attracted many tourists to take photos. It is located on the hillside with an open-air balcony and here you can enjoy beautiful landscape of Jialing River at its feet and galloping scene of light rail.

Buildings are worth visiting at Sancengmalu

Backing to the Eling and facing the Jialing River, the "Sancengmalu" area attracted many celebrities during the Anti-Japanese War and was built a lot of mansions owned by politicians and businessmen. It was a famous villa gathering area in Chongqing at that time. Up to now, many buildings are preserved well, forming the feature and highlight of "Sancengmalu".

The first layer is from the Juelu Building Groups in Liziba Centre Street to the first corner of Fotuguan Station, with dense woods, winding mountain roads, many historical and cultural sites and memorials, such as the Flying Tigers Museum, Stilwell Museum and the Exhibition Hall of the Exhibition Site of the Central Office of Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party at the corner.

The third layer is from the corner of Osmanthus Garden to Eling Centre Street. You can directly arrive at TESTBED 2 Cultural and Creative Park along the route. TESTBED 2 is one of the hottest visiting places in the old block of "Sancengmalu", and the place used to be the Mint Factory of the Central Bank of the Republic of China that producing tickets for grain, meat and cash coupon used by Chongqing people in daily life from 1950 to 1970.

In addition, there are nearly 100-year-old buildings like No. 44 Building at Jialing New Road, Sun Ke Mansion and Xu Yuanju Mansion. The first two are being repaired.
