TANGIER, Morocco, June 9 (Xinhua) -- An international conference on technology, innovation and society, dubbed CyFy Africa 2019, concluded on Sunday in the Moroccan city of Tangier amid high expectations.

Placed under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the second edition of conference was organized by the Research and Development Foundation of India in partnership with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy and the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

During the conference, many workshops and discussion sessions tackled the importance of technology in industry and decision-making.

The three-day event brought together ministers, journalists, ethicists, as well as technology leaders and entrepreneurs from different countries for Africa-centerd conversations over data, innovation, gender, norms and new media.

In a statement, the organizing committee stressed the importance of technology as it contributed to accelerating the spread of information as well as political freedom.

The conference also discussed how to counter the spread of violence and ways to prevent it, urging governments and international organizations to cooperate with technology platforms to build communities capable of well using up-to-date technologies.

During the conference, a panel of discussion was held on the future of journalism in the world in light of the technological transformations.

The participants also discussed the impact of press and social media on citizens, and how technology could affect journalism.

Other panels touched on the future of businesswomen in Africa and Asia and how to attract women to business fields.

The participants expected that reliance on technology and artificial intelligence and the use of robots would make important changes in the nature of work.
