SANAA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched multiple drone attacks on a Saudi military base in the Saudi Arabia's southwestern province of Asir in late night of Monday, the rebels TV al-Masirah reported.

The attacks targeted King Khaled Airbase in Khamis Mushait city of Asir, the Houthi television said.

There was no confirmation from Saudi Arabia.

It was the latest drone attacks claimed by the Yemeni rebels against Saudi border cities and facilities. Most of the drone and missile attacks had been intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi air defense forces.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been leading an Arab military coalition against Yemeni Houthi rebels in support of Yemen's internationally recognized President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi over the last four years.

The Houthi fighters seized control of much of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, in September 2014, forcing Hadi and his government into exile in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia.
