Objects show the unforgettable memory as an apprentice in the Liuzhen Photo Shop
Old negatives, photographs, various cameras and photographic objects placed in the Zhou Yong's photo shop show the real face of photographic history in that era of Chongqing. Zhou said that "I stick to the traditional technique, love to collect old objects, keep my shop in a unique nostalgic style, give inanimate objects life and new stories, and chat with people about the history of old Chongqing in casual way."
Zhou also said that "As the saying goes: ‘the son of a hero must be a stout fellow too’. My father is the master of the Liuzhen Photo Shop.” According to Zhou’s father, Huang Shaohuai, the founder of the shop, had to check everything in person, immediately tore up the unqualified photos, and visited Shanghai, Guangzhou and other places to study and hire excellent technicians in the early phrase. All candidates shall be on probation for three days and those who are not recruited may gain a certain fee subsidy. There was a lot of pressure to be an apprentice in Huang’s shop. The shop focused on the quality and service, which deeply impressed many Chongqing people.

Record "trivial matters" of old Chongqing by camera
"I guess people who were born from 1950s to 1980s, may take photos such as registration, graduation, marriage, and family photos in Liuzhou Photo Shop. Unfortunately, the hundred-year-old shop is in poor condition in the fast-changing market. For that, some people feel sad while others think it’s normal due to the development.” “I usually like going out to take pictures with my partners in the photographic circle. I can say that I basically visited the whole urban areas of Chongqing. I have the photos of old Chongqing, including the Shibati, Hongyadong, Chaotianmen and Jiefangbei. They witness the development of Chongqing and also are my most precious memory.”
