CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Have you ever heard of that you can cook dishes by yourself when you eat at a restaurant? There is an open kitchen created in a restaurant on Beibin Road. This unique restaurant is run by Xie Hang, the one who loves to cook creative dishes. In this restaurant, you can enjoy special ways of eating, and even eat the menu after you order food.

An experiential kitchen for customers to cook dishes by themselves

In addition to its normal dining area and deck area, the most eye-catching is a long kitchen table over 10m in the middle of the restaurant, on which various seasonings are placed. It can accommodate more than 10 persons to cook dishes at the same time. Look! 35-year-old Mr. Feng was opening a “mysterious box”, and Xie Hang was looking at it aside.

Xie Hang, a 37-year-old man, said that this is what makes the restaurant so special. In addition to ordering food normally, customers at each table would be given a mysterious box and then they may cook dishes according to the unknown ingredients in the box. All the ingredients in the box are chosen by Xie; some may be ordinary while some extraordinary. He introduced that a young female customer once opened the box and saw 5 eggs in it. While with the guidance of Xie, she cooked a great dish by herself. Whenever customers cook dishes, Xie Hang or members of his team will accompany customers throughout the whole cooking process. Mr. Feng said “Xie Hang is an unusual talent” when he saw a bunch of vegetables inside his mysterious box.

Eatable menus invented in the restaurant

In 2014, Xie Hang returned to Chongqing to develop his career. Though he opened a barbecue restaurant, he was in doubt at the same time. “The busy daily work really took away from my love of cooking, and I needed to find a new way to renew my passion for cooking,” Xie said so.

With years of investigation, in October 2018, he opened this unique restaurant at Beibin Road. Inventing new dishes with his team constantly is the most interesting thing for him. Spicy bean curd cooked with quinoa abalone and other Western-Chinese cuisine can refresh customers’ gustation, which gives a sense of achievement to him. He said that the most fantastic thing in his restaurant is not the experiential kitchen, nor various creative dishes, but the eatable menus, which can be eaten after ordering food. He introduced that the menu is made of glutinous rice and the characters are printed with edible pigments.

He enjoys the time working in the restaurant because he can cook dishes for customers and watch the process when customers are cooking. He said that “Dishes cooked by different people are different too.
