Scenes of two bridges at Egongyan in different periods

2019-07-30 10:33:38

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing is a city surrounded by two rivers, so bridges here provide an important means for people’s trip. Recently, two bridges in Chongqing have become newly popular attractions. Rails cross over Egongyan Bridge and Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge on the Yangtze River every day, accompanying people through 12 two-hour periods.

During Maoshi (the period of the day from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.), night and dawn alternate and the city wakes up. At Chongqing Yucai Secondary School, street lamps are still lit up with more and more vehicles passing by. In the meantime, the sky is turning bright in the east, which means that daybreak is approaching.

During Chenshi (the period of the day from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.), when all people in the city begin to work for their living, main urban districts in Chongqing usher in the morning peak. Egongyan Bridge is a critical channel connecting Jiulongpo District and Nan’an District, on which a large number of vehicles are moving slowly. Besides it, workers start to construct Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge, which is expected to be completed within 2019.

During Sishi (the period of the day from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.), workers on the bridge still work on the construction. The temperature in July in Chongqing rises as time goes by. Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge is built 70m upstream of Egongyan Bridge, with a total length of 1650.5m. Its main span of 600m is the longest of its kind in the world. In the future, it will become a key section of Chongqing Rail Transit Loop Line.

During Wushi (the period of the day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.), the midsummer sun is shining in the sky, all workers are having a noon break to store energy for the following work. You can see beautiful scenery of Egongyan Bridge from shadows of the trees under the bridge.

During Weishi (the period of the day from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), the 60-year-old Mr. Song who lives at Wuxiaoqu, Nanping is practicing the saxophone at the south end of Egongyan Bridge. Mr. Song said that it’s cool under the bridge and he needn’t to worry about rains. Usually, as long as he has nothing to do that day, he would take a bus for two stops after lunch to practice there for a while.

During Shenshi (the period of the day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.), you can observe a great scene of the two crossing-river bridges connecting two districts. The two bridges own special names for their unique characteristics. No matter how special they are called, they have become the newest and greatest brand of Chongqing.

During Youshi (the period of the day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.), workers are working on the temporary bridges, more than 100m above the river. Though complete protection measures are taken, it is still scary to look down from the bridge. No matter how tough the work is, Chongqing people will spare their effort to make a living with their strength.

During Wushi (the period of the day from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.), you can feel the cool river wind when you wander along the riverbank. The 60-year-old Zhou Changxu who lives at a community nearby loves to take a walk after supper. He said that his children have their own work to do now, while he likes to walk along the riverbank. He took out his phone to shoot some photos of the two bridges that he had seen for many times. He shows his true love to his hometown.

During Haishi (the period of the day from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.), beautiful scenery of Chongqing at night is charming, which is created thanks to some ordinary and great people. Ran Guowei, a concrete worker for pouring the subgrade is one of them. Because the pouring work can only be done in the evening, he and his workmates have to find a corner to take a short rest after dinner, and then they shall spend all night to do this work.

During Zishi (the period of the day from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.), “the planned length of pouring is 120m today, and we can call it a day at 7 o’clock in the morning at normal speed,” Liu Defu said so. In the project that needs high quality within a short period of time, Liu Defu and his workmates work at nights. In order to maintain the same suspension bridge style as Egongyan Bridge, two main cables and 122 slings are designed on both sides of Egongyan Rail Transit Bridge.

During Choushi (the period of the day from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Yan Jiuyue is cleaning out the fog on windows of the sentry box. He is a newly security officer of Egongyan Bridge Administration Office. He works from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. There is no pedestrian path on Egongyan Bridge, so people are not allowed to go across the bridge, making the night duty much boring. Yan Jiuyue can say a few words every one hour and a half to report the bridge condition via the interphone: “Headquarters, surrounding facilities of east tower pillar run normally.”

During Yinshi (the period of the day from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.), when people are taking a sound sleep, stars in the sky have recorded our stories throughout the day. There are still many vehicles running on the bridge. We will go across many bridges in our life, which will take us to the best next stop to experience the best 12 two-hour periods.
