CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the Chongqing Library held the Third Chongqing Youth Model United Nations Conference. And 196 young students from more than 50 middle schools and universities in Chongqing and other provinces and cities attended the conference.

The theme of this conference is "Youth and Sustainable Development Goals". In 2015, the world adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 sustainable development goals, calling on all countries to take action to protect the earth while promoting economic prosperity. The Chongqing Youth Model United Nations Conference encourages young people to participate actively and exert their potential to take responsibility and contribute to improving human life and the health of the earth.

During the three-day conference, 100 delegates will voice for the country they represent. Under the baton of the committee's topic, the delegates will test, write national position documents, working papers, draft resolutions, and vote on the draft resolution. Finally, the final resolution on this topic will be adopted. The meeting is completely held in accordance with the "Robert's Rules of Procedure" of the official meeting of the United Nations. The delegates should strictly follow the rules of the meeting, write the standard material format and vote process, and form the final outcome of the meeting.

In 2013, the Chongqing Library first attempted to hold Model United Nations activities, becoming the first public library in China to organize a Model United Nations Conference, and the first public welfare institution in China to organize this event in addition to schools and commercial institutions. In 2017, the Chongqing Library independently held the First Chongqing Youth Model United Nations Conference for youth groups. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
