Riders in Chongqing

2019-08-07 11:38:15

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing is built based on mountains and rivers. There are mountainous regions accounting for over 70% and various rivers running into the Yangtze River, then the sea. Moreover, the scene like elevator reaching 8th floor underground can be always seen in Chongqing. For riders, they run up and down every day. Let’s take a look at these riders in Chongqing.

Due to the interdependent position of mountains and rivers as well as the adjacent location of high-rise buildings and steps, people who live in Chongqing have to "climb mountains" every day.

Li Lili, a 25-year-old rider, has served a working area with lots of old-fashioned buildings for three years despite many riders give up this area due to the complex terrain and scarce elevators.

With the rapid growth of new retailing, fresh food delivery and other businesses, Mr. Li becomes busier and busier and acts his own "Pegasus (a movie)" by virtue of an electric motor, a helmet and a heat preservation box.

The "most tired" delivery order for Li is that he arrived at the 32th floor without rest via climbing the stair instead of taking elevator due to its fault.

Chongqing has changeable weather this summer and the sunny and heavily rainy scene can be seen in one day. Sometimes, he may meet a heavy rain in a sunny day and he has to move ahead in the rain.

Different from the “high buildings rising from the flat ground”, most of high-rise buildings in Chongqing are erected on the high mountains. As a consequent, people carry the goods with the primary tool – pole which can bear about 50kg with two nylon ropes.

Although the rider looks thin, he has eight abdominal muscles. His arms exposed under the sun for a long term turn blacker than his belly.

Bangbang (a group of bamboo-pole porters) was developed in the special geographical environment of Chongqing. However, as the society develops, we seldomly see the scene that Bangbang carries the goods by his shoulder but witness the birth of express delivery and rider – the other form of Bangbang.
