CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- New community sports culture parks have been built in the abandoned urban areas, whose design has fully referred to suggestions from the public. These parks are built along mountains with many cultural elements added so as to protect local plants. Among the 2nd batch of community sports culture parks, Zhaojiashan Sports Culture Park in Jiangbei District and Tongzishan Sports Culture Park in Nan’an District have been officially opened, attracting many citizens nearby.

Design and facilities layout are made based on the needs of the public

20 parks are involved in the 2nd batch of community sports culture parks this year, covering a total land area of 200 mu, which are located in main districts of Chongqing. Among them, Zhaojiashan Sports Culture Park in Jiangbei District and Tongzishan Sports Culture Park in Nan’an District are firstly opened to the public.

Tall trees are planted by the activity area in Zhaojiashan Sports Culture Park. The ground of architectures, courts and activity areas in the park are all made of permeable asphalt and ecological and environmental materials, which is not only environmentally friendly but also more durable.

“The design and selection of materials for the 2nd batch of opened community sports culture parks refer to citizens’ suggestions. The layout is accordingly adjusted according to the use of the first batch of community sports and cultural parks.” The person in charge of Chongqing Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources said so. The 2nd batch of parks are opened in succession, with more abundant cultural elements and more reasonable facilities layout.

Parks are upgraded into community activity areas for citizens

The new batch of parks opened or to be opened are favored by the public. Dashuijing Sports Culture Park, which has been opened for more than half a year, is changing people’s life gradually. Ms. Zhang, who used to go to the gym at Guanyinqiao before comes to the park with her husband for exercise three times a week. She said that she can exercise here for free and the relationship with her husband becomes better after that.

In order to make orderly use of the badminton courts in the park, people living nearby spontaneously set up a WeChat group last year, in which they can reserve time in advance. Thanks to this measure, conflicts over area taking up haven’t occurred afterwards.

People can take orderly activities in the park. The Director of Dashuijing Sports Culture Park said that since last year, Spring Festival Get-together, Eye-care Day Activity and other activities have been held in the park, and community sports festival and outdoor cinema festival will be held later.

20 community sports culture parks to be opened in succession

According to the plan, 92 sports culture parks will be built in main districts of Chongqing, of which 30 were opened in 2018, 20 built in 2019 and 42 to be built in 2020. These 92 sports culture parks can hold 30,000 to 40,000 people at the same time, which can serve about 2 million people nearby and meet the need for regular exercise and social contacts.

The person in charge of Chongqing Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources introduced that the first batch of 30 community sports culture parks opened in Chongqing in the end of 2018 covered all the administrative districts. Since the opening, the number of people’s visits for recreation and exercise in these parks reached 500,000.
