CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the China Tourism Academy and Ctrip Tourism Big Data Joint Laboratory released the 2019 Big Data Report on Outbound "New Group Tour", which shows that the number of outbound tours exceeded 80 million in the first half of the year. Among the many outbound tourists, the majority of them still participate in group Tours. The proportion of young people following the group has surpassed that of middle-aged and old people. Chongqing ranks fifth in the country, with an increase of 62% over the same period last year.

Chinese tourists prefer “New Group Tour”

In recent decades, Chinese tourists are becoming increasingly "small group" tourists, who have been accustomed to traveling with strangers in large groups for decades. Focusing on privacy and family has become a trend.

“Having a group tour at the destination”, which shows the group tour products have become popular among the tourism market. In the first half of 2019, the number of tourists choosing outbound local group tour on Ctrip Travel Platform increased by 50% year-on-year. The local group tour not only solves the problem of overseas vehicle use for tourists, but also meets the itinerary arrangement of tourists for different purposes. It also covers more cities and towns with local characteristics. Interestingly, 60% of the tourists enrolled in the local group tour are women.

Six of the 10 tourists of outbound group tour are young people

The proportion of young people choosing tour groups has surpassed that of middle-aged and old people. According to the report, 34 percent of young people born in the 1990s and 2000s took part in group tours in the first half of 2019, up 5% from 2018. Six of the 10 tourists of outbound group tour are young people, and three are post-90s generation and post-00s generation under 30 years old.

Second, third and fourth level cities catch their position in outbound tourism market

Which cities are the most enthusiastic about new outbound group tours? The report shows that Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Kunming, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Changsha and Guiyang are the top 15 cities with the largest number of outbound and group tours.

Which cities have the fastest growth in outbound new and group tours? Qingdao, Guiyang, Wuxi, Jinan, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Kunming, Chongqing, Nanning and Hefei are the top 10 cities for outbound group tours in the first half of 2019.
