Southwest China's Tengchong to hold international marathon in November

KUNMING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Tengchong International Marathon, a CAA (China Athletics Association) Gold Label Match, is to be held on November 24 in southwest China's Yunnan Province, the organizing committee announced Thursday.

The race, inaugurated in 2015, consists of four categories: full marathon, half marathon, a six-kilometer fun run and a one-kilometer parent-child run.

The total number of runners is expected to reach 15,000 with 2,500 for the full, 4,000 for the half marathon, 6,500 for the 6km run and 2,000 for the 1km parent-child run, said Tengchong vice mayor Li Ping.

Also, a half-marathon team race will be introduced, which features teams of five runners, including at least one female runner. The new race will be ranked according to the net time score of each team member, said the organizers.

This year's registration process for the race starts on August 15, with

the course to cover the main tourist attractions of Tengchong, such as Guoshang Memorial Cemetery, Heshun Ancient Town and the Ginkgo Village.
