CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The annual Edinburgh International Festival is held in Edinburgh every August, making the city more attractive. In 2019, 17 young actors from Chongqing staged on this international festival to perform the original children play “Worlds that I never tell”, co-created by the Children Theater of Nan’an Culture Center 303 Drama Club and the Director of Children Play, Li Siyao. This play displays the story about education and Chongqing.

It’s said that the play was inspired by “On Children”, a poem of Kahlil Gibran, which says that “Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself”. This play focuses on problems of the modern child education, conveys the love and care and shows different thoughts of two generations at the same time.

“At the beginning of 2019, 303 Drama Club was invited to perform in the Edinburgh International Festival. This is the first time that Chongqing folk drama group received the official invitation of the three world drama festivals. Chongqing children play has never staged on the three world drama festivals.” Yuan Ye, the founder of 303 Drama Club, introduced that the must-consider question on creation was that which drama shall be chosen to exchange with artists from the globe.

Yuan Ye and children

Speaking of the selection of the children play to be performed at the Edinburgh International Festival, Yuan Ye said that children are important for training the young generation to understand drama and enter theaters. “We hope more people will be interested in drama art after this play showed on the international festival, so as to promote its popularization”.
