Chaotianmen: conditions changed and unchanged

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chaotianmen, located at the junction of Jialing River and Yangtze River in Yuzhong Peninsula, is one of the 17 ancient city gates and the largest waterway passenger terminal in Chongqing. In May 2016, "Chaotianmen" was elected as one of the “ten cultural symbols of Chongqing”. Chongqing Raffles City Shopping Center was opened on September 6, 2019, which let Chaotianmen attract people’s eyes again.

With the passage of time, Chaotianmen has changed a lot, but still occupies an important position in Chongqing. Now follow us to review that.

People traveled by passenger ship at Chaotianmen Wharf on February 3, 2006 (the sixth day of the first lunar month) during the Spring Festival.

A little girl was flying a kite on the steps at Chaotianmen Wharf on May 6, 2006.

"Chaotian Yangfan", a large-scale music and lighting performance, was showed on the evening of August 9, 2007.

The arch of Chaotianmen Bridge connecting Chaotianmen would be closed soon as seen on December 12, 2007.

Jialing River Cableway undemolished was flying over Chaotianmen Square not yet been reconstructed as seen on February 26, 2008.

The largest flood occurred in the Yangtze River and Jialing River since the 2010 summer passed through Chongqing on July 19 and submerged the archway of gate written “朝天门” (Chaotianmen) down.

"Two-color river" appeared at the junction of Yangtze River and Jialing River at Chaotianmen as seen on August 4, 2014.
