The Launch Ceremony of “Museum Passport” project

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “It’s said that the passport is jointly created by over 70 museums in China. I think it’s memorable so I bought one.” Recently, Liu Shuqing, a tourist from Hebei Province who came to visit the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, is so fond of the “Museum Passport” (hereinafter referred to as “Passport”) that she had just bought and couldn’t put it down. The “Passport” was officially released on the Launch Ceremony of “Museum Passport” Project in Three Gorges Museum, also the first cultural and creative product co-owned by over 70 museums in China.

The “Passport” is jointly created, shared and operated by more than 70 museums in China. The holder can get stamps at museums specified in the “Passport” and record the journey. After activating the passport via WeChat Mini Program, you can also browse cultural and creative products of major museums across China on the platform, and get a 5% to 10% discount when you buy these products at the cultural and creative counters of designated museums. In addition, you can exchange products, tickets and participate in membership activities with your points accumulated.

The “Passport” with two types, red and blue, similar in size to a diplomatic passport

The “Passport” has two types, red and blue, similar in size to a diplomatic passport. The symbol of Chinese cultural heritage is printed on the cover. It is delicately made. The birth of “Passport” dates back five months. On April 19, 2019, in the “Seminar on Development of Cultural and Creative Products in Museums and Tourism Attractions under the Combination of Culture and Tourism”, museums, like Nanjing Museum, Shanghai Museum, Guangdong Museum and Three Gorges Museum, jointly launched the “China Museum Store Alliance” and proposed developing a common cultural and creative project to tie the allied museums together. Then the “Passport” project is born at the right moment.

“At present, the ‘Passport’ has attracted more than 70 museums. In the future, there will be more museums in this project.” Cheng Wuyan, the curator of Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, said that Three Gorges Museum, Wushan Museum and Kuizhou Museum in Chongqing have taken part in the project.

More than 150 cultural and museum-related institutions will join the project next year, and more cultural and creative products jointly owned by museums across China will be launched in the future. (Translated by Mao Qiao, Fathom Language Limited)
