CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In 1906, the first electric light station in Chongqing came on in Bufengju of Chuqimen, the lower half of the city, and the first generator of a 100 kilowatt DC generator has caused a sensation in the whole city. Over the past 100 years, Chongqing has also undergone tremendous changes, among which there were relentless struggles of electricity workers in Chongqing. In recent days, Photography Exhibition with the theme of "I am advancing with the motherland - Lighting up Chongqing" sponsored by the Chongqing Electric Power Company of the State Grid, was being launched at the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery. In 1949, the total installed capacity of Chongqing was 21,600 KW, and the electricity sold was 45.53 million KWH with backward technology, weak power grid structure, low power supply quality and poor reliability. In 2019, Chongqing has installed a total of 25.182 million kilowatts of power generation, built and put into operation nearly 1,000 substations over 35 kilowatts, and installed 2,272 transmission lines with a total length of over 30,000 kilometers. In the past 70 years, the installed generating capacity of Chongqing has increased by more than 1200 times. It is also a struggle for generations from generation to generation, which has made countless efforts, sweat and wisdom to light up the city.

Chongqing Electric Power Company of the State Grid hoped to show the grand development of Chongqing from different perspectives and reflect the great contribution of electric power to the city and the change of people’s life. According to the relevant person in charge, the exhibition was divided into four parts: the lights, the old look, the fireworks and the promising future. There were more than 160 images. These images focused on the mountains and rivers, people’s life, and the urban development of Chongqing. It showed the images of the night view of Chongqing from many angles. There were pictures of traditional life and modern elements blending through historical sites, humanities architectural landscapes and landmark buildings.
