CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing has become one of the most popular tourist destinations during the National Day holiday. Mr. Liu, who lives in the tube-shaped building (“筒子楼” in Chinese), Haitangxi, Nan’an District, found that a lot of young people came here to take photos. The octagonal courtyard and special stairs in the building can give people a sense of science and technology, which make the building a new popular attraction and also a place for shooting films. The arrival of these young people made this old building more energetic.

Seen from Haitangxi Centre Street, the tube-shaped building is similar to the surrounding residential buildings, but when you enter it, you can find that it’s quite special. The tube-shaped building, with an octagonal courtyard, offwhite stone walls and old stairs, seems like an old man waiting for the return of children.

The building owned its name of “Tongzilou” (tube-shaped building) because it is ventilated at both ends of the long corridor. The Z-shaped stairs, connecting the courtyard and the rooftop, add some special sense for the building.

It consists of 2 buildings with 13 floors on each and 8 households on each floor. In this small space, you may know all people and their lives in few minutes. You can see a Chinese knot with two Chinese characters “喜” (happiness) hanging on the guard railing, showing that a couple just married.
