CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing has become one of the most popular tourist destinations during the National Day holiday. Mr. Liu, who lives in the tube-shaped building (“筒子楼” in Chinese), Haitangxi, Nan’an District, found that a lot of young people came here to take photos. The octagonal courtyard and special stairs in the building can give people a sense of science and technology, which make the building a new popular attraction and also a place for shooting films. The arrival of these young people made this old building more energetic.

Seen from Haitangxi Centre Street, the tube-shaped building is similar to the surrounding residential buildings, but when you enter it, you can find that it’s quite special. The tube-shaped building, with an octagonal courtyard, offwhite stone walls and old stairs, seems like an old man waiting for the return of children.

The building owned its name of “Tongzilou” (tube-shaped building) because it is ventilated at both ends of the long corridor. The Z-shaped stairs, connecting the courtyard and the rooftop, add some special sense for the building.

It consists of 2 buildings with 13 floors on each and 8 households on each floor. In this small space, you may know all people and their lives in few minutes. You can see a Chinese knot with two Chinese characters “喜” (happiness) hanging on the guard railing, showing that a couple just married.

The pace of life here is slow, and people here plant many flowers. Hu Cuiling living on the 10th floor has some potted plants on the guard railing. Seen from the 13th floor, green plants become a beautiful scenery line in the open courtyard.

Que Zhenghao from Jiangjin came here to visit his friends. To his surprise, the building his friend lives is the tube-shaped building. He immediately shot pictures and uploaded on the Moments. It is the home for residents and also one of most popular shooting stations for photographers in Chongqing. You can shoot great pictures at the stairs from any shooting angle.

Grandpa Wei and Grandma Jiang live here for about 7 or 8 years. Grandpa Wei loves looking out of windows though there is something wrong with his eyes. Grandma Jiang stands nearby and tells him about the changes around the building.

Huangjue Ancient Path is located in front of the building. The path has carried the busy pace of businessmen, witnessed the prosperity of shops on both sides. At present, the path and the building both became less busy. Some people will visit here only at meal time.

Looking up from the top two floors of the building, you can see the pinnacle of the Sheraton Hotel across the street. Although the tube-shaped building is located on the busy Nanbin Road, it is isolated from the busy world. In the tranquil building, there are many old residents reluctant to move out.
