CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Li Xuerui, a famous badminton player from Chongqing and the gold medalist of women's singles in London Olympic Games, announced her withdraw from the national team due to her old injury, which also marked that she has been out for next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.

In 2012, Li Xuerui, 21, won the women's badminton singles champion at the London Olympic Games. During the 2016 Rio Olympics, she suffered severe cruciate ligament rupture in the semi-final while defending for the champion and has yet to recover to her best condition.

After one year's treatment, Li Xuerui won the championship qualification in BWF World Championships in August 2017. In April 2018, Li Xuerui first played in an international competition after 20-month break. She returned to Lingshui China International Challenge 2018, and won four championships in 2018.

In the 2019 New Zealand Badminton Open, Li Xuerui won the second prize. In this month's South Korean Badminton Open, she withdrew from the first round due to injury after falling behind TAKAHASHI Sayaka at 15:21/3:11, which might be the last international match of Li's career.
