KUNMING, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have captured three suspects in connection with smuggling frozen pettitoes from Vietnam into China, with two vehicles detained, local authorities said Saturday.

On Oct. 4, border police in Maguan County seized a total of 6 tonnes of frozen pettitoes in Jiahanqing Township after receiving a tip-off, according to the county's public security bureau.

Police nabbed the driver of the suspected vehicle who dumped the smuggled goods on a country road in Jiahanqing to escape inspection and then led the police to the site and the two accomplices.

Further investigation into the case is underway.

Maguan, which borders Vietnam, has cracked down on several cases of smuggling frozen pettitoes, chicken feet and beef in recent years, according to the local police.
