Bashu Ancient Architecture Museum

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter of Chongqing Evening News learned from Shapingba District that the Bayu Ancient Architecture Museum, located in Chenjiaqiao, Shapingba District, has opened. The construction of the museum lasted for 6 years. It is a special museum with the theme of ancient architectural culture in Sichuan and Chongqing Area, which was built on the basis of Fuxing Temple, a municipal cultural relic protection unit.

More than 400 pieces / set of cultural relics

The museum adopted a large number of decorative techniques such as gold tracing, color painting, porcelain inlay and sculpture to comprehensively display the splendid ancient architectural culture of Bashu. At present, there are more than 400 pieces / set (more than 1000 pieces) of cultural relics in the museum, mainly including wooden, stone, gray plastic, brick carving and other architectural components as well as unearthed cultural relics related to ancient architectural culture.

Bashu has a long history of architectural culture. As early as the Twelve Bridge Culture Period of the Neolithic Age, there had been stilt-style architectures with complete functions. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, courtyard buildings appeared widely, and the use of wooden frame and bucket arch became more and more mature. In the period of Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the stilts were transformed into stilt-style architectures. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, large-scale temples and houses appeared. From the Yuan Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, a large number of immigrants came to Sichuan. The traditional building system of Bashu gradually took shape, the types of buildings increased, a large number of public buildings were built, and the construction of towns flourished.

Some representative cultural relics and pictures, such as gate tower, town building and Qiaodu Wharf, were displayed in the museum, showing the architectural features of eclecticism, diversity, integration and rich forms.

In addition, as an important part of Chinese Architectural Carving Art, the traditional architectural carving technology in Bashu Area was simple and elegant with exquisite skills. With different carving techniques, it created a variety of artistic images with a sense of space and picture, reflecting the style of the times and the public aesthetic.

According to the commentator, since ancient times, the opera art has a deep mass foundation in Bashu Area. It integrated the popular opera image into the architectural decoration and embellished it in the subtle places, which could activate the architectural style and place the beautiful feelings. It was not only the careful design of the craftsmen, but also an example of the close integration of opera and folk life in Bashu. It was also a comprehensive display of the beauty of form and implication of ancient Bashu architecture.
