CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Huangjeping 501 Art Base across the street from Huangjeping Campus of Sichuan Fine Arts is holding a free exhibition of city fresco with the theme of "Secret garden · Dragon Hunting Journey". It is the environmental reconstruction project of 501 Art Base. It is a group of urban frescoes just completed by the original UMA Urban Art Frescoes Team. It covers an area of about 500 square meters and took half a year to complete.

To start your dragon hunt journey from the steps

Walking into the gate of 501 Art Base and moving inside along the internal road, you will find that there is a sign on the right side of the gate that reads "Secret garden · Dragon Hunting Journey". There is a row of steps below, which is the hidden entrance of the "Secret Garden".

Go down to the next level and start the Dragon hunt. First of all, there is a forest path on the front wall, winding to the deep forest. On the wall to the left of the steps, a green dragon leaped against the wall. This is the first dragon. Its theme is "Wooden Dragon Calls for Spring". In response, there is a lush forest on the right wall.

Go inside, and turn a corner, you will find a white dragon “on the wall” oncoming. That is the second dragon. In a huge nest on the wall of the small garden, a small dragon breaks its shell and comes out while you moving forward. That is the third dragon. Its theme is "Looking forward to the kid to become successful.”

Although it is not long after completion, many tourists have come here to take photos. Ms. Wang and her friends from Jiangsu came to Huangjueping for a tour and ran into this place. "What a surprise. The design is very interesting, and the cartoon dragon on the door is very cute."

Nine dragons hidden in the murals

“There are nine dragons hidden in this group of murals for visitors to look for,” Tian Xiao, chief of the Art Mural Team, said.

“Originally, it was a small alley behind the street of the 501 Art Base. The house was a bit shabby for long years out of repair. The owner came to us for reconstruction. We found that it was quiet and suitable for a garden.” The 501 Art Base was transformed from a warehouse built in the 1960s, covering an area of about 10000 square meters. In the back alley, some walls were seriously damaged, and the surface of the most serious places falls off, exposing the internal rough.

When it came to design inspiration, Tian said that Jiulongpo has rich cultural heritage, and historical culture and contemporary art complement each other. Since it is located in Jiulongpo, there are various dragon elements in the murals. They hoped that visitors can feel the historical and cultural atmosphere in the process of appreciation.

Eight painters spend half a year to complete the works

The Art Mural Team wanted to build a "Secret Garden" in Huangjueping. The reason why the art form of urban mural was adopted was that it continued the overall style of Huangjueping Graffiti Street and differentiated from the causal graffiti. The urban mural art integrated many elements such as urban planning, aesthetic design, history and humanities, spirit of the times, and classic fashion to upgrade the original street graffiti art into a systematic urban art, multiple schools and original art form.

This group of murals was completed by eight painters of the art mural team in half a year. The largest mural is two and a half floors high, sharing pigments for one thousand jin and 200 brushes. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
