CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In order to reduce the mortality rate of premature infants, improve the health status and life quality of premature infants, more people are called to pay attention to premature infants. Recently, the 5th "World Day of Premature Infants" Themed Activity sponsored by Pediatrics Department of Xinqiao Hospital of Army Medical University was held in Daping, Chongqing. Zhang Yuping, the director of Pediatrics Department of Xinqiao Hospital, led nearly 20 experts, therapists, nutritionists, nurses and others to participate in the activity, answering questions and solving doubts for nearly 100 families of premature infants.

"In recent years, the newborn population has been growing." According to the statistics from the WHO, China ranks second in the number of premature babies in the world, with 1.17 million every year. The incidence of premature births in Chongqing was about 11.12 percent, higher than the national average, said Zhang Yuping, the director of Pediatrics Department at Xinqiao Hospital. Premature infants are very vulnerable. Even if they are lucky enough to survive, they will also face various challenges and problems such as feeding difficulties, respiratory function, and nerve development. Therefore, their healthy growth needs careful care of parents, the protection of professionals, and strong willpower of their own.
