CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Urban Administration, in order to solve the problems of water seepage, dim lighting, lack of communication and emergency facilities in the tunnels and underpasses in main urban districts, the Administration has carried out corresponding renovation projects. 

Up to now, a total of 208 urban tunnels (including underpasses) in the main urban districts have been renovated, covering a total area of 1.492 million square meters. It is known that since the launch of urban quality improvement project in 2008, under the guidance of Chongqing Urban Administration, each main urban district has carried out the improvement work. 

During the renovation, the lighting facilities of 29 tunnels and underpasses like Daxuecheng Tunnel and Shuangbei Tunnel have been renovated. Daxuecheng Tunnel, in particular, whose lightings were out of the service life and always broken down after over 10 years operation, has been installed with 2107 sets of LED lightings. 

In addition, there are 12 key tunnel portal greening projects in main urban districts with a total greening area of 186,000 square meters and by now 7 projects with an area of 156,000 square meters have been completed. (Translated by Ma Shuangshuang, Fathom Language Limited)
