Tongliang is the hometown of dragon lantern art of China. The production of dragon lantern products has a history of nearly one thousand years, and hundreds of products have been produced. The products sell well at home and abroad. As early as the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there was a folk saying in Sichuan and Chongqing that “Worship Buddha in Dazu, appreciate lantern in Tongliang”. In 2006, Tongliang Dragon Dance was listed in the first batch of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage list. “Tongliang Dragon Lantern” is one of the top ten folk arts in Bayu.

"New Year's Day and Spring Festival are the peak sales season of Tongliang Dragon Lantern, and more than 10 dragon lantern manufacturers (yards) in the district have earned more than 60 million yuan. It has become a major industry in Tongliang."
