New Zealand Asian Sports and Culture Festival to promote cultural exchanges

AUCKLAND, New Zealand Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Asian Sports and Culture Festival, aimed at promoting cultural exchanges in New Zealand, will be held from February 29 to March 1, 2020, its organizer said in a press conference held in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday.

Jackson Rao, chairman of the New Zealand Culture and Arts Foundation, which is the organizer of the event, highlighted that, "New Zealand Asian Sports and Culture Festival is a great platform for sports events, cultural exchanges and commercial interactions. The festival will be co-hosted by over 100 organizations and more than 1,000 participants, including Chinese, Indian, and local New Zealanders."

"The festival is believed to promote the communication and integration of diverse ethnic groups in New Zealand, through sports and culture," Yao added.

Artistic performances, fashion shows and basketball performance will be displayed on the opening ceremony. The event will also feature fireworks at night of the ceremony.

The festival will start from February 29, 2020 to March 1 in Auckland. The sport games will include basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, billiards, athletics, tug of war, chess, free combat, e-sports, etc.
