CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- How about ending your 2019 with a marathon relay? Last weekend, the 35th Chongqing Marathon Relay Race and the 2020 Jiulongpo District Government Welcome Relay started in Huayan Temple Scenic Area. More than 1,000 runners from 120 teams in the city participated in the competition.

The Chongqing Marathon Relay Race started in 1985. It is the oldest marathon event in Chongqing and it has been the 35th race this year. In terms of this year’s event setup, the traditions of previous years will be continued, and all participants will be divided into the association group, the running group and the Jiulongpo district-level government group. There are 9 runners in each group of the association group and the running group. Each runner needs to run 2 laps around Huayan Lake for a total of 4.8 kilometers.

At the site, all the teams completed the assembly early, and each team was actively warming up and preparing for the battle, waiting for the signal of start. At 9 o’clock in the morning, the first batch of runners started with the starting gunshot. “I live near here. I saw a lot of people standing here in the morning when I came out for the morning exercise. I came here to see that it was a marathon. It hasn’t been so lively for a long time. It’s nice to watch young running figures!” A citizen said.

After more than 3 hours of fierce competition, the ranking list has also experienced countless alternations. In the end, the Beibei District Long-distance Running Association, the Banan District Long-distance Running Mountaineering Association, the Yuzhong District Long-distance Running Association won the top three in the association group, the Urban Runners, the CQ Running Team, and the Southwest University of Political Science & Law won the top three in the running group. After the match, contestant Cheng Yu from the Beibei District Long-distance Running Association, the champion of the running team, said that the team usually went out to participate in the competition, but rarely competed with other teams in the name of the running team. He said that “the format is very novel and interesting. We will come to participate every year in the future. The achievement of this year’s championship is the result of the cooperation of our running team. This trophy is also dedicated to our running team!”
