BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition featuring Chinese classic literature masterpiece "A Dream of Red Mansions" has kicked off at the National Museum of China.

The exhibition displays nearly 600 pieces of cultural relics, documents, and artworks related to the theme of the novel in six sections to reveal the background, influence and spread of the literary classic.

Several sequels and translated works of the novel are also on display.

Written in the 18th century, the story traces the lives of a wealthy family to reflect the decline and myopia of feudal society.

The exhibition will last for three months.
