Prehistoric painted pottery on exhibit in Beijing

BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A total of 194 specimens of prehistoric painted pottery from northwest China's Gansu province are on display at the National Museum of China (NMC), providing visitors a glimpse into the prehistoric Yellow River civilization.

Covering various periods of Gansu painted pottery over a span of 5,500 years, the exhibit includes many pieces that are on public display for the first time and shows the artistic features, development history and cultural connotations of Gansu painted pottery.

The exhibition is jointly organized by the NMC and more than 10 other cultural organizations including the Gansu Provincial Museum.
