Chongqing to host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing football fans will be able to watch the AFC Asian Cup at home again. On December 28, the China Football Association announced that Chongqing, together with Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi’an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen, Suzhou and other cities, will jointly host the 2023 18th AFC Asian cup of Men’s Football.
The 18th Asian Cup of Men’s Football will be held in China from June to July in 2023. As the highest level and most influential football event in Asia hosted by AFC, there will be 24 teams participating in the event and 51 high-level matches will be held.
According to Chongqing Daily, Chongqing will host the group match and a quarter final, all of which will be held in the ongoing Liangjiang Football Match Center, according to the Report on China’s Bid for the 2023 Asian Cup released by the Asian Football Association. The competition center is built by Liangjiang Investment Group, with a net capacity of 44,000 persons, a total capacity of 46,800 persons, 920 VIP seats and 380 media seats. It is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2022.
