CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum held the media meeting of the “Exhibition of Paintings and Calligraphy of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Tianjin Museum”. This is another New Year’s exhibition of the museum after the “Spring Festival series exhibition: welcome the New Year’s rat. The exhibition will be officially opened on January 15 and last until April 12.

The exhibition will be officially opened from January 15 to April 12.

Based on the advantages of Tianjin collection resources, the exhibition starts from the complicated painting schools of Ming and Qing Dynasties, combs the artistic characteristics of each school, and selects eleven paintings represented by Dai Jin, Shen Zhou, Dong Qichang, Lan Ying, Gong Xian and so on. The exhibition not only expounds the historical process of the development and evolution of painting, but also outlines the overall face of Chinese painting in Ming and Qing Dynasties.

In this exhibition, there is a work named “Hongjing Map Axis” by Zheng Min, a calligrapher and painter in Qing Dynasty. Hongjing, also known as Hongjingdong and Hongyadong, was the legendary place where immortal Hong Ya built roads and made alchemy. In the valley on the north side of Cuiyan Road, Wanli District, Nanchang City, the picture depicts this scenic spot.

The exhibition outlines the overall appearance of Chinese paintings in the Ming and Qing dynasties.

For the “Hongyadong” from Anhui Province, Xing Jin, deputy director of the painting and Calligraphy Research Department of Tianjin Museum, said that “the place of cultivating immortals depicted in this work is exactly the same as Chongqing’s Hongyadong, which is a very interesting place. We hope that it will attract Chongqing citizens to visit. In addition, in terms of artistic creation, the painting adopts a relatively simple brush strokes, and the surface of the mountain stone is basically not textured, just sketching the outline of the mountain, which is also worth a look of calligraphy and painting lovers.”

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition with painting schools as the topic is the first of many calligraphy and painting exhibitions that have been exhibited in Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum. Visitors can get a clear clue of the development of Chinese painting, the relationship between teachers and the style differences between schools, and understand the essence of Chinese painting from another aspect.
