CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With red lanterns, festive couplets, hot eight-treasure porridge and wonderful lion dance performance, Beiyi Road, Baicheng Street, Jiulong Community, Hanfeng Sub-district, Kaizhou District, Chongqing Municipality is bustling, where citizens wander on the newly decorated street with strong Spring Festival atmosphere.

For creating better the Spring Festival atmosphere, over 40 merchants in Baicheng Street have united to actively build the folk custom street at their own expense and hold series activities of the first folk customs festival.

The activity site was very busy. Chongqing intangible cultural heritage – Auspicious Golden Lion performance was shown on the street. Throughout the performance, the lion dancers were very flexible and completed a series of wonderful and exciting movements like squatting, lying, jumping and rolling, winning thunderous applause from the audience.

At a corner of the street, there was free hot rice porridge and popcorn provided by merchants for citizens and tourists, and calligraphers were invited to write Spring Festival couplets, which were sent to citizens for free.

“The activities are held to make a more exciting Spring Festival and create stronger Spring Festival atmosphere” said the activity sponsor. The street was built into a food safety demonstration street. More than 40 merchants with the public welfare spirit voluntarily held the activities to promote the Spring Festival atmosphere.
