2020-02-14 11:45:11

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “You take good care of the patients, and we take good care of your family.” Since February 11, more than 200 “Lei Feng taxis” in the main urban area of Chongqing have set up voluntary service teams to invite families of medical staff who assisted in Hubei. In case of travel inconvenience during the epidemic prevention period, they can contact the volunteer service teams. “Lei Feng taxi”will provide free service for them.

More than 200 “Lei Feng taxis” have joined in

“I sign up!” “I apply to join!” The volunteer service team adopted the registration system when it was founded. Soon, more than 200 “Lei Feng taxi” drivers joined in.

Wang Hualun was the first to sign up. Driving a taxi for 27 years, he did not stop driving after the outbreak of epidemic. Although there were not many people on the way, he also had to run to 9:00 p.m. to finish his shift. “What if there are medical staff in a hurry to go out?”

Previously, after traffic control during the epidemic, Wang Hualun took the initiative to sign up to provide travel security services for medical staff, for the old, young, sick and disabled groups. Speaking of the re- registration, Wang said frankly: “I didn’t think so much at that time. The medical staff risked their lives and rushed to the front line of the anti epidemic. I also wanted to do something for them.”

Taxi driver Qin Zhong also signed up for the volunteer service team. “Medical workers are treating patients at a critical time, and we must take care of their families,” he said.

Volunteering service has begun. According to Wang Hualun, they picked up a pregnant woman in the past two days. Her husband is a medical worker, and has already assisted in Hubei. In the future, we will provide her with a free shuttle service.”

Dad turned into a “virus-free” taxi driver

After the outbreak of the epidemic, many taxi drivers also joined the love action.

After 6 a.m. on February 3, taxi driver Liu Min got up to prepare. Wear a mask, check the condition of the car before leaving, disinfect the inside and outside of the car... Before 7 o’clock, he came downstairs to nurse Wang, who worked in the People’s Hospital of Banan District. On that day, he would take nurse Wang and Wans’s colleagues to Dashan Village Expressway Checkpoint to measure body temperature of drivers.

Wang Fu, 46, has been driving a taxi for 12 years, during which time the outside of the hospital has become a permanent place for him to stay at night. Originally, he noticed that after the outbreak of the epidemic, the public transport has been adjusted. At night, some doctors and nurses were not able to take the bus after work. He who lives in Shapingba, always insists on working late at night, hoping to provide convenience for medical staff who work until midnight.

Zhao Yuanbin, a taxi driver, worried that he would accidentally take the virus home every day because he would contact different people every day. During this period, he has been living in his hometown of Longzhouwan, Banan. Zhao Yuanbin has not been home for more than a week to shuttle for medical staff day and night.

“When I had a video chat with my son that day, he said that the virus was so horrible outside and asked me why I still drive the taxi?” Zhao Yuanbin told his son that the uncle doctors and nurse sisters shuttled by the father were “superman” fighting the virus. He will become a “virus free” taxi driver as well, there is no need to worry about him. (Translated by Luo Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
