50 tons of oranges donated to Hebei

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Stay strong, China, Hubei, Wuhan, we are here with you…” Recently, a truck containing oranges was from Quchi Township, Wushan County, Chongqing to Hubei. In the orange boxes, some villagers left messages and blessings.

Since the outbreak of the NCP in Wuhan, Hubei Province, so many Chinese people ar4e fighting against the epidemic in the frontline. Recently, Quchi Township fruit farmers spontaneously took the initiative to donate anti-epidemic medical personnel, police and staff with fresh oranges for free. After the proposal spread among villagers WeChat, Quchi Township set up donation stations at Longdong and Wubai Village where were filled with the oranges that the villagers just picked from the trees.

According to Xu Peitao, secretary of the Party Committee of Quchi Township, when they began to collect statistics of all villages, their expected donation amount is 10 tons, but finally the actual donation amount by villagers has reached 50 tons or so; and even some families sold out their own oranges and then they bought from their relatives and friends for donation.

Meanwhile, in order to let the oranges quickly transported to Hubei, Quchi Township Government actively contact Yichang, Xiaogan and other places to help allocating transport vehicles to ensure that those oranges would arrive as quickly as possible.
