On February 13, at the centralized quarantine and medical observation center located at Xingguangsilu, Liangjiang New Area, the medical staff were preparing the disinfectant for the use of the transferred persons to be observed.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “I couldn’t see their faces clearly and don’t know their names. I can’t recognize them even I pass them by one day in the future, but I really thank them.” On February 13, when a reporter of Chongqing Daily visited Chungking General Hospital, one of the centralized quarantine and medical observation centers in Liangjiang New Area, Mr. Lin, an old man over 60 years old under medical observation, repeatedly requested the reporter via phone to convey his gratitude to the medical staff.

The quarantine center located at Dazhulin Sub-district is among the green trees. “The quarantine center is mainly used to observe personnel who have close contact with patents,” introduced by Wang Yunci, person in charge of the quarantine center and director of Physical Examination Center of the Second People’s Hospital of Liangjiang New Area. After receiving the task on February 1, the hospital completed the transformation of 37 rooms on 3 floors within one and a half days. Before that, 29 people had been observed here in succession and 25 of them had been sent away after the diagnosis confirmed or released from quarantine. At present, a couple over 60 years old and a father with his 14-year-old daughter are still quarantined here.

Mr. and Mrs. Lin returned from a trip to Laos at the end of January. Unfortunately, there were confirmed cases on the flight back to Chongqing, so they immediately reported the situation to the community. “During the first a few days after that, the community personnel made many phone calls to express concern and measured our temperature at our home.” Mr. Lin in a quarantine room communicated with the reporter via phone. He recalled that all of them thought it would be safer to go to a quarantine center for centralized quarantine.

“At first, I thought the conditions at the quarantine center would not be good. Unexpectedly, everyone has a very clean single room,” said Mr. Lin, whose wife lives in the room across the door. Every room is equipped with a television, an electric hair drier, disinfectant, etc., which is very standard and well-equipped.

The 8 medical workers at the quarantine center change the disinfectant for every room and send food and measure temperature for everyone by turns, to take care of the needs of them at any time. “They always do all the work in obscurity. Sometimes the patients to be observed are sent here late at night, the medical workers always take quite a long time to register, examine and distribute articles.” For this reason, Mr. Lin also expressed his gratitude to his medical staff via WeChat.

“You don’t need to know who we are. It’s our greatest wish to let you get through the quarantine period safely!” said the nurse who took case of Mr. Lin. The medical staff comforted everyone under observation here through mental communication.

Mr. Lin and his wife are in good physical and mental conditions now. “I exercise in my room every day,” said Mr. Lin with confidence. He and his wife show no symptom by far and they encourage each other via phone call or WeChat every day. “I believe that with the help of the medical staff, we will leave here soon!” (Translated by Huang Juan, Fathom Language Limited)
