Orange enterprise resumes work

2020-02-24 12:03:59

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chen Guanghui, once a businessman in Shenzhen, returned to Wanzhou five years ago and set up Xinhui Agricultural Company to plant oranges and lead local villagers to make a fortune. Now affected by the epidemic, the oranges that should be picked from the sixth day of Chinese lunar new year were still on the trees. Chen Guanghui felt sad when finding the overripe oranges rotted.

In 1996, Chen Guanghui went to Shenzhen to work after retiring from the military service, where he made friends with some fruit dealers. In 2008, Chen Hui established a fruit sales company with his friends after having some savings. In 2014, Chen Guanghui returned to Heima Village, Ganning Town, Wanzhou by chance and saw a lot of land lying waste, so he decided to let the land continue to make value.

With the support of local government, Chen Guanghui contracted 1,500 mu land in Ganning Town to plant oranges. He established Xinhui Agricultural Company and gradually developed it into a leading agricultural company in Wanzhou District. He employed local villagers to plant and manage the oranges, solving the employment problem of local village and increasing their incomes.

Chen Guanghui planted sweet oranges with good quality by adopting scientific method, and realized the yield of 2,500 tons in the trial planting last year. Now it is the first year of normal harvest, and the expected yield is 6,000 tons. Unfortunately, affected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) epidemic, the oranges that should be picked from the sixth day of Chinese lunar new year were still on the trees, and many oranges were rotted.

The ripe oranges are featured with thin peel, abundant juice and pleasant flavor, and it’s the best season to eat them at present. If the oranges are not picked timely, not only the oranges will rot, it will also affect the upcoming flower season, affecting the harvest of the following year. On February 8, Chen Guanghui decided to resume work. After obtaining the letter for resumption of work, Chen Guanghui invited villagers to help the picking. Facing the epidemic situation, villagers were a little scared at first and none of them appeared.

Chen Guanghui visited them one by one and told them the company would take prevention measures. His sincerity reassured the villagers and villagers appeared in two days to help picking orange. In addition to wearing masks, they were also measured body temperature before the work every day.

Before and after work, Chen Guanghui prepared ethanol for disinfection of villagers to ensure the safety of villagers, and also make customers feel more reassured for the oranges on sale.

In the farm, more than 40 villagers picked the oranges orderly and filled up the plastic crates after a while. The villagers responsible for handling carried the crates full of oranges onto the tricycle and transported to the processing plant for the next step.

Entering the process plant, you can smell the strong orange fragrance. Oranges are classified, cleaned and packaged in the plant. Those of small size or poor appearance will be selected out for other processing.

The packaged oranges were loaded onto the truck by workers. During the epidemic period, the local government opens a “green channel” for the company of Chen Guanghui and help a lot in the aspect of logistics in order to sell the oranges smoothly as soon as possible.

In facing with the epidemic situation, the sale becomes another difficulty. Chen Guanghui picked up with many fruit wholesale friends in the fruit sales experience before. He called the fruit dealers every day, getting through and turned down repeatedly.

Finally, Chen Guanghui’s oranges were favored in the Philippine after a series of selections and examinations. Chen Guanghui got the purchase order of 1,000 tons from the Philippine market. The help of villagers, policy support of the government and expansion of export market made Chen Guanghui believe that he would surely get through the epidemic!
