CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- When she went home on holiday, what she was looking forward to most was the delicious food at home. Chen Ruijie, a student of Grade 2018 in Department of Sculpture, Southwest University, lives in Luoyang, Henan Province. She likes eating grandma’s dishes best, but this year, she could not go to grandma’s home because of the epidemic. Therefore, she painted all grandma’s specialty dishes on the plate. She said that it was good that it couldn’t warm her stomach but her heart.

Inspired by a bowl of soup

According to Chen Ruijie, people in Luoyang usually drink soup in the morning. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, she didn’t drink the beef soup she misses so much. Recently, the School of Fine Arts organized a Young Artists Work Group of Anti-epidemic, so she planned to “make” a bowl of beef soup in the shape of a bat as an anti-epidemic work.

After continuous discussion and repeated modification, she created more and more things she wanted to eat later. But what she wanted most was dishes cooked by grandma: Sweet and sour fish and stewed pork with preserved vegetable in soya sauce. This time, due to the impact of the epidemic, she could not eat the dishes made by her grandma. She didn’t even visit her grandparents. She missed them very much, so planned to draw all grandma’s masterpieces to release her lovesickness.

Wish you can eat the delicious food early and meet the people you miss

Chen Ruijie, who named the works Nostalgia, said that in the initial stage of her creation, she just wanted to appeal to everyone not to eat wild animals. However, after continuous cultivation and thinking, she decided to take food and works as the carrier of her feelings and thoughts.
