CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On March 12, the Arbor Day, Chongqing held a video conference on Forestry Work of Chongqing in 2020. Chongqing will strive to complete afforestation of 6.4 million mu this year, with the forest coverage rate reaching about 52%, and the output value of the forestry industry growing by more than 15%.

Results in 2019

About 6.4 million mu of various afforestation has been completed, and the forest coverage rate has reached 50.1%

Since this year, Chongqing has completed the construction of 1.1 million mu of forest. About 800,000 people volunteered to plant trees for 4.13 million. On Arbor Day, about 28,600 people participated in 52 voluntary tree planting bases and tree planting sites in various townships, planting about 230,000 trees. This year, Chongqing plans to complete 6.4 million mu of various forest plantation tasks, and the forest coverage rate is expected to reach about 52%.

As of March 10, there were 38 reforestation districts and counties in Chongqing resumed production, with a rate of 100%. There were 1,145 professional forest plantation teams in the city, with a rate of 95.6%. Thirty eight districts and counties have formulated compulsory tree planting programs in spring and implemented 52 compulsory tree planting bases.

For the 2020 plan, Chongqing will strive to complete the afforestation of 6.4 million mu this year, with the forest coverage rate reaching about 52%, and the output value of the forestry industry increasing by more than 15%.

At the same time, Chongqing will also plan and actively integrate into the construction and development strategy of the Chengdu-Chongqing double-city economic circle. Chongqing will closely follow its target positioning, give full play to its ecological advantages, and build high-quality ecological corridors mainly based on the Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wujiang River, and Fujiang River, and key ecological channels such as Chengdu-Chongqing railways and highways. It will accelerate the construction of forest cities and greening model counties in the Chengdu-Chongqing area, and promote the integration of urban and rural greening.

It is worth mentioning that in order to promote the growth of the output value of the forestry industry, it will also support the innovation and cooperation of the leading forestry enterprises, build a modern forestry industrial park, logistics base, and forestry product exhibition and sales center, and promote the healthy and rapid development of the forestry industry.
