SAIC-GM-Wuling to distribute over 6 million masks for free
NANNING, March 18 (Xinhua) -- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a major automobile manufacturer in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has announced that it would distribute over 6 million masks to the public for free.
SGMW, which sold more than 1.6 million autos in 2019, converted one of its dust-free workshops to produce masks in early February when the coronavirus outbreak swept China. People across the country can apply for masks free of charge via the SGMW's app, the company said in a statement.
The company said it had delivered more than 12 million masks for free to the local epidemic prevention and control agencies, some universities across the country, and the company's suppliers and distributors.
Besides the masks, SGMW also turned to develop technology products, such as full-automatic mask machine, intelligent mobile temperature measuring vehicles and unmanned disinfection vehicles, to aid epidemic prevention and control, according to the company.
