CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Commission, Tongluoshan Mine Park, known as “Yellowstone National Park in Chongqing”, has completed the first phase of pit renovation and restoration. Next, Tongluoshan National Mine Park will be built through comprehensive management and ecological restoration.

Tongluoshan used to be the largest limestone mining area in Yubei District, Chongqing. After several years of mining, more than 40 huge pits left. In 2010, due to the serious environmental damage caused by mining, the Government of Yubei District shut down Tongluoshan Limestone Mining Area. After that, after accumulating over time, the mines have formed a series of deep and beautiful “lakes”, surrounded by cliffs and green pools, with charming scenery.

In 2017, Tongluoshan Mine Park was awarded the construction qualification to build a national mine park, and the overall planning was completed in September 2019. According to the plan, the total planning area of the park is 25.18 square kilometers. With the core concept of ecological protection and the characteristics of immersive mine tourism experience, the park will build a national mine park and a national 5A tourist attraction integrating popular science experience, leisure and recreation, and ecological health.
